Description
The Chauvin Arnoux CA 6555 is a heavy-duty digital megohmmeter and high-voltage insulation tester designed for precise measurement of insulation resistance in electrical equipment, installations, and machinery. Built to operate reliably in demanding field environments, it supports a wide range of test voltages from as low as 40 Vdc up to 15 000 Vdc, making it suitable for verifying insulation integrity on cables, motors, generators, transformers, and other high-voltage apparatus. With a measurement range extending from 10 kΩ up to 30 TΩ, the instrument can detect extremely high resistance values and subtle insulation deterioration that might precede failures.
The Chauvin Arnoux CA 6555 features a large backlit LCD with clear digital readings, bargraphs, and waveform displays that show resistance (R), test voltage (U), and leakage currents (i) over time, helping technicians assess insulation quality with confidence. Multiple test modes—including fixed voltage, voltage ramp, and step tests—allow users to tailor measurements to specific standards and conditions, and advanced functions such as automatic ratio calculations (DAR, PI, DD, DR) further support professional insulation assessment practices. A robust internal memory can store tens of thousands of measurements with time stamps for later analysis, and data can be downloaded to a PC using optically isolated USB communication for reporting and documentation.
Ruggedly constructed with a site-proof casing and compliant with relevant safety standards (including IEC 61557-1/-2 and IEC 61010 CAT IV), the Chauvin Arnoux CA 6555 is ideal for use by electrical contractors, maintenance teams, utilities, manufacturers, and research facilities needing reliable insulation resistance testing across a range of voltages and environments.
