AEMC 6472 Multifunction Digital Ground

The AEMC 6472 Multifunction Digital Ground Resistance Tester is a portable, high‑performance instrument designed for comprehensive earth/ground system testing across industrial, utility, construction, and maintenance applications. It combines multiple measurement capabilities into a single rugged field tester, enabling users to accurately evaluate critical grounding parameters including bond resistance, ground electrode resistance (with and without clamp probes), soil resistivity, earth coupling, and step & touch potential—all essential for verifying safe and effective earthing in electrical systems.

The tester features auto‑ranging measurement from 0.01 Ω to 99.99 kΩ, which automatically selects the optimum range, test frequency, and current to maximize accuracy, even in electrically noisy environments or where stray currents might interfere with readings. Manual or automatic frequency selection (from approximately 40 Hz up to over 5 kHz) helps reject interference and improve the reliability of measurements.

Multiple test methods are supported, including 3‑Point and 4‑Point (Fall‑of‑Potential) ground resistance tests, soil resistivity measurements using Wenner or Schlumberger configurations, as well as bond (DC resistance) and earth coupling assessments. Optional clamp probes extend the tester’s versatility by enabling ground resistance measurement without auxiliary stakes.

The AEMC  6472 stores up to 512 complete test results internally, and it includes optically isolated USB communication and DataView software for data transfer, advanced analysis, automatic reporting, and custom plotting on a PC. Rechargeable NiMH batteries provide long field operation, and the rugged, weather‑resistant case ensures dependable performance in a range of outdoor conditions. When paired with accessories like the GroundFlex Adapter Model 6474, the system can also perform power transmission tower and leg ground resistance tests without disconnecting overhead ground conductors.
